These porcelain steel siding diners were popularized across the Midwest in the 1920’s as White Castles and White Tower restaurants, with dozens of mom-and-pop variations scattered around Detroit. Less than a dozen of these endearing and delicious hamburger joints remain, and I hope they never go away.
